WINES THAT EXPRESS CHARACTER & EXPERTISE
The Excellence of Médoc Terroirs
The Médoc lands have gravel soils over a clay-limestone subsoil. The temperate oceanic climate between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean perfectly suits the estate's three grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Those are the treasures of our Terroirs.
Our wines adhere to these excellent grape varieties, imparting distinct personalities to long-aged wines. We exclusively produce Grands Crus and offer a wide collection from our AOC Médoc properties, certified High Environmental Value (HVE3) - that rewards our agro-ecological transition efforts.

NATURE AS HERITAGE

« GREAT WINES ARE MEASURED BY THE TEST OF TIME. »
From yesterday to today
The story of a family adventure that has taken care of a unique territory for almost a century. A knowledge transmitted which is renewed between tradition and desire for the future.
1956
In 1956, following a severe frost, almost the entire vineyard was lost. Frédéric Cruchon's grandfather, Jean Taudin, planted new vines, and initiated the creation of Cave Saint Roch, in Queyrac, with a group of winegrowers. He was its president for 30 years.

1987
In 1987, Jean Pierre Cruchon acquired AOC Médoc plots in the town of Gaillan Médoc. Among these plots, three are located in a hamlet called Chante-Merle. A fourth plot was planted in 1988 with the name of Château, “Chantemerle”, registered in 1993.

1995
In 1989, an equipment shed was built.
In 1995, it was transformed into a winery. That same year, Jean Pierre Cruchon decided to make wine in his cellars located on the property, whereas previously (in its early days) production was sold to the Cave Saint-Roch cooperative in Queyrac.

1996
In 1996, for the first year of winemaking, Frédéric Cruchon joined his father to put his dynamism and ambition at the service of the estate. Château Chantemerle then includes 9 hectares of vines, a vat room and a barrel cellar of 200 m² each. Father and Son then work hand in hand.

1997
In 1997, a barrel cellar was built, followed by a bottle storage cellar in 1998, then packaging for the marketing of the wines. Thanks to their repeated efforts, the estate quickly produced around 400 hectoliters of wines vinified and aged using the traditional method.

2008
In 2008, Frédéric Cruchon became the manager of Château Chantemerle. Since his first vinifications, he has invested in improving the vineyard and its infrastructure. As a result, the family estate grew, in a few years, from less than 10 hectares to more than 30. The extension of the vineyards began.

2016
The expansion of properties continues. The Moulin de Brion vineyard, family property for several generations, is located in Couquèques north of Saint-Estèphe. In 2016, Frédéric Cruchon acquired this vineyard located in AOC Médoc and whose plots are registered under the name Château Moulin de Brion.

2018
In 2018, Frédéric Cruchon acquired Château Lacombe Noaillac located in AOC Médoc in a commune of Jau Dignac Loirac. Around a beautiful residence built in 1834, the 26-hectare vineyard, planted between 1979 and 1982, overlooks the Gironde estuary and is less than 10 km from the ocean which regulates its temperate climate.

Today
Today, the vineyard is made up of different plots of vines of very different ages ranging from young plantations to more than 50 years old, thus making it possible to make high quality wines. Our properties extend over more than 200 hectares and are worked all year round with the greatest respect for Médoquin traditions.
